The Allegheny Chorale is about to begin its 38th season and welcomes all new and old members.

Anyone who loves to sing is welcome to join the chorale for weekly practices beginning at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Tyrone Alliance Church, 2103 Adams Ave., Tyrone.

The chorale will be preparing for two concerts during the Christmas season.

Central Class of 1969 plans dinner

The class of 1969 from Central High School, Martinsburg, will gather for dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the U.S. Hotel, Hollidaysburg.

AFSCME retirees to meet Wednesday

DUNCANSVILLE — The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees retirees sub- chapter 8306 will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the union hall on Patchway Road.

The executive board will meet at 12:30 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 1:30 p.m. Those attending will follow up on convention planning.

Frontier Patriots to meet Sept. 10

The quarterly meeting of the Frontier Patriots Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 10, at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, 4308 Business Route 220, Bedford.

The Frontier Patriots Chapter includes the counties of Bedford, Blair, Clearfield and Huntingdon.

All current members are encouraged to attend the meeting, as well as any male, 18 years of age or older, who desires to attain membership.

To become a member, proof is required of lineal descent from a patriot who served during the Revolutionary War or who gave aid and support to American Colonists during the Revolution.

DUNCANSVILLE ä The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees will meet at

11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Prime Sirloin Buffet following COVID-19 guidelines.

Members and nonmembers are welcome to attend.

NARVRE is the only chartered national organization whose sole purpose is to protect our pension rights.

All retired, veteran and present railroad employees (or widows) of any craft are invited to attend the meeting of NARVRE Unit 173, Altoona. There will be a representative from the Railroad Retirement Board. Please come and hear about the benefits you maybe entitled to.

Country Traditions to perform Sept. 10

PLEASANTVILLE — The Alum Bank Community Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary will present Country Traditions from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

Flavors of Fall Festival set for Sept. 10

PATTON — The second annual Flavors of Fall Festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, on Magee Avenue, featuring wineries, distilleries and brewery. There will be outdoor craft and food vendors.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Admissions includes a pasta bar and a commemorative glass.

Proceeds benefit the Patton Public Library, Patton Fire Company and Special Events Committee.

Johnstown Super Cruise returns Sept. 10

JOHNSTOWN — The Johnstown Super Cruise Committee announce the return of its annual Antique & Classic Car & Motorcycle Event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship Church, 3429 Elton Road in the Richland Township area of Johnstown. The event will be held rain or shine.

All antique, classic, tuner, rat rod, truck and newer vehicles and motorcycles are welcome. Dash plaques will be given for first 150 vehicles. There is a $10 cruise vehicle registration fee. Free admission for general public. It will include a basket raffle, door prizes, games, food, auto displays, military displays and a K-9 demonstration. Music will be performed by Three Of Hearts.

Proceeds benefit the Laurel Highlands Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 364.

DAR hears about Fort Roberdeau

The Adam Holliday Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met Aug. 13 at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library community room. Both virtual and in-person attendance was available.

Fort Roberdeau Director Glenn Nelson Jr. spoke about Fort Roberdeau.

The chapter donated to the Hollidaysburg Heroes Banner Program to help defray the cost of making the banners and to allow them to remain free for families requesting the placement of their veteran in the picture banners displayed along the streets of Hollidaysburg.

The chapter donated backpacks to the American Rescue Workers. H. Jean Sinal announced the National DAR appointment of Dani Felty as the U.S. Eastern Division vice chair of the newly formed Library Outreach Committee which includes Washington, D.C., Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and DAR units overseas. Sinal also reported the flooding devastation in Kentucky to the 120-year-old DAR Hindman Settlement School. The chapter voted to make a donation to aid in the cleaning and preservation of historical artifacts, buildings and property that were damaged.

The next meeting will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library community room. All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend. Both virtual and in person attendance is available.
